Earls Colne Tennis Club is a part of the Recreation Facility initially set up for the Foundry workers and their families to enjoy. Villagers could use the courts on payment of a small fee. However, in July 1977 a trust was set up with the formation of the Recreation Club and the Tennis Club together with the Football and Cricket Club, was part of this. Early on the trust completely refurbished the courts with the expectation that the tennis club would continue to maintain the courts in good order.
Now in 2016 Earls Colne sees a much more dynamic club, welcoming people of all ages with an interest in tennis to come and join in. The Club offers 4 Macadam Floodlit courts for all year round use. Courts are available most times other than busy coaching sessions and League Matches, Social tennis sessions are scheduled in through the week so that there is always an opportunity to come and play. (See our weekly programme for a guide)
There is a clubhouse and all members have full use of the Recreation Club’s facilities just a stones throw away. Offering Fully Licensed Bar, Showers, Changing Rooms and Toilets.
The Club's aim is to promote tennis as a fun, challenging sport, through social play, coaching and competition. We have a great social calendar and plenty of opportunity for all ages and ability of player to get involved.
